* Prof. Marta Sanz-Sole has been elected as the new President of the
 
European Mathematical Society.

* StatProb: The encyclopedia sponsored by statistics and probability
 
societies (http://statprob.com/), including the BS, has been recently
 
launched. Thomas Liggett is the representative of the Bernoulli Society

2.- NEWS FROM STANDING COMMITTEES
 
* New members of the Latin American Regional Committee of the
 
Bernoulli Society (LARC-SLAPEM) have been elected, we welcome
 
Carenne Ludena  (Venezuela), Alicia Carriquiry (USA), Luis Renato
 
Fontes (Brazil) and Rolando  Rebolledo (Chile). The newly elected
 
chair of the Committee is Claudio Landim (Brazil) who replaces Jose
 
R. Leon (Venezuela).
