***Nominations open for the Willem van Zwet Medal

The Bernoulli Society has launched the Willem van Zwet Medal, to be awarded for special service to the Bernoulli Society. Nominations should be communicated by email to the Willem van Zwet Medal committee at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. ***Bernoulli Society New Researcher Award 2022

The Bernoulli Society welcomes applications to the New Researcher Award 2022. Each awardee shall deliver a talk at a special invited session during the 42nd Conference on Stochastic Processes and their Applications in 2022, and will receive a funding up to 1000€

to offset travel and other expenses. Eligible candidates are active researchers in Probability Theory who obtained their PhD degree on or after March 1st, 2016, and who are regular members of the Bernoulli Society. ***Nomination Committee on New President-Elect and Council Members

The Nomination Committee, chaired by the President-Elect Adam Jakubowski, sent their report to the Scientific Secretary in September 2020 with the following list of candidates:

-       President-Elect: Victor Panaretos (EPFL, Switzerland), commencing in August 2023 in succession to the next President Adam Jakubowski.

Six ordinary members of the Council for a four-year term from August 2021 to August 2025:

-       David Aldous (University of California, USA)

-       Susanne Ditlevsen (University of Copenhagen, Denmark)

-       Jean-Marie Dufour (McGill University, Canada)

-       Marie-Colette van Lieshout (University of Twente, Netherlands)

-       Rolando Rebolledo (Universidad de Valparaíso, Chile)

-       Aad van der Vaart (University of Leiden, Netherlands)

The Scientific Secretary Song Xi Chen submitted the report of the Nomination Committee to the ordinary members of the Council for additional suggestions. No further nominations were made. The Executive Committee and the Council approved the above nominations in October 2020. According to Section 9 of the Statutes, these candidates are declared elected without vote, pending final approval at the next General Assembly in July 2021.

***Nominations for the LARC of the Bernoulli Society

The current members of the Latin American Regional Committee (LARC) nominate the following candidates for the renewal of the committee:

-       Manuel Cabezas (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Chile)

-       Inés Armendáriz (Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina)

-       Stella Brassesco (Instituto Venezolano de Investigaciones Científicas, Venezuela)

-       Arno Siri-Jégousse (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, México)

As the number of candidates is equal to the number of vacant places, all candidates shall be considered elected. The new members’ term shall begin on April 1, 2021 for a period of four years.

***Conformation of C(PS)^2 Committee 2021-2022

The proposed new formation for the Committee on Probability and Statistics in the Physical Sciences is composed of 5 members who already served in the past term and 7 new members, plus the elected chairman (Marcos Valdebenito).

***Bernoulli-IMS 10th World Congress in Probability and Statistics (BS-IMS-WC)

The congress is the latest in a series organized jointly by the Bernoulli Society and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics. Held every four years, the Congress is a worldwide event covering all branches of statistics and probability. This includes theoretical, methodological, applied and computational statistics and probability, as well as stochastic processes. The latest scientific developments in all of these fields are showcased.

***Frontier Probability Days (FPD’20)

The Frontier Probability Days is a regional workshop, now postponed to 2021 at the University of Nevada. Itspurpose is to bring together mathematicians, both regionally and globally, who have an interest in probability and its applications. ***International Conference on Robust Statistics (ICORS)

The conference has been an annual international conference since 2001. The aim of the conferences is to bring together researchers and practitioners interested in robust statistics, data analysis and related areas. ***Extreme Value Analysis (EVA 2021)

***International Symposium on Nonparametric Statistics (ISNPS2022)

***42nd Conference on Stochastic Processes and their Applications (SPA)

Previously scheduled for July 2021, the conference will take place in 2022. SPA Conferences are organized under patronage of the Bernoulli Society and can justifiably be regarded as the most important international scientific meeting on the theory and applications of stochastic processes. They are held annually except for the years when the World Congress in Probability and Statistics takes place. This iteration will be hosted by Wuhan University. 

***33rd European Meeting of Statisticians (EMS 2022)

July 18 - 22, 2022

The European Meeting of Statisticians (EMS), sponsored by the European Regional Committee of the Bernoulli Society, is the main statistics conference in Europe.
