* New e-Briefs editor

It was a pleasure to serve as the e-Briefs editor in the past two years. I would like to thank Wilfrid Kendall, Sara van de Geer, Susan Murphy, Thomas Mikosch and Byeong Park for all the help and support. * New Chair of the European Regional Committee

We are happy to welcome Niels Richard Hansen as the chair of Bernoulli Society's European Regional Committee, for a two-year term started on January 1st.

* 39th Conference on Stochastic Processes and their Applications, Moscow, July 24-28

The Conference on Stochastic Processes and their Applications is organized under the auspices of the Bernoulli Society for Mathematical Statistics and Probability, co-sponsored by the Institute of Mathematical Statistics and in partnership with the Clay Mathematics Institute.

* European Meeting of Statisticians, Helsinki, Finland, July 24-28

The European Meeting of Statisticians (EMS) , sponsored by the European Regional Committee of the Bernoulli Society, is the main conference in statistics and probability in Europe. EMS is a conference where statisticians of all ages and from all regions meet to exchange ideas and talk about the newest developments on the broad field of statistics and probability theory.

* 20th European Young Statisticians Meeting, Uppsala, Sweden, August 14-18

The EYSM is arranged every two years under the auspices of the Bernoulli Society. * International Conference on Robust Statistics, Wollongong, Australia, July 03-07

The aim of ICORS is to bring together researchers and practitioners interested in robust statistics, data analysis and related areas. * INFORMS Applied Probability Society Conference 2017, Evaston, USA, July 10-12

The Applied Probability Society is a subdivision of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences. The Society is concerned with the application of probability theory to systems that involve random phenomena, for example, manufacturing, communication network, computer network, service, and financial systems. The conference will take place at the Kellogg School of Management's new Global Hub at Northwestern University in Evanston.

* Spectral Properties of Large Random Objects, Bures-sur-Yvette, France, July 17-28

* Lecturer, School of Mathematics, The University of Edinburgh

The University of Edinburgh will make a substantial number of appointments in the Mathematical Sciences as part of an ambitious plan for the School of Mathematics. As part of this development, we wish to appoint two Lecturers in Statistics and Data Science to start on 1 August 2017 or by agreement. We are seeking candidates with a track record of high quality research. The successful applicants will contribute to the establishment of the University of Edinburgh as an international centre for Statistics and Data Science, and will deliver high quality undergraduate and postgraduate level teaching. They will interact with colleagues in the Maxwell Institute, a longstanding partnership in the Mathematical Sciences between the University of Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt University, in the University, and have an active role within The Alan Turing Institute.
