Dear Colleagues:
At the end of the Guanajuato 5th World Congress of the Bernoulli Society
Wilfrid Kendall was succeeded by Enno Mammen as Scientific Secretary of
the Bernoulli Society. Enno will serve a term of four years.
Because of its centrality to the
most important functions of the Society and the length of term,
the office of Scientific Secretary
is quite likely the most important administrative office in
the Society. Wilf has performed the duties of this office
promptly and diligently, while always showing the best of judgment.
On behalf of the Bernoulli Society, I would like to thank him
for this service to the Society.
On 1 September 2000, Willem van Zwet will succeed Ole Barndorff-Nielsen
as the Editor-in-Chief of Bernoulli for a term of three years.
Ole has been the founding and only editor of Bernoulli,
which is now in its sixth year of existence. Not only has he
been instrumental in bringing the journal to where it is today
scientifically, but he also played an important role in
the transition from a commercially published journal to
a journal published jointly by the ISI and the Bernoulli Society
when Chapman and Hall was taken over by Kluwer.
I would like to express to Ole the gratitude of the Bernoulli Society
for his editorial contributions during this critical period.
I would also like to thank Jens Ledet Jensen for his important contribution
as Managing Co-Editor.
Sincerely,
David Siegmund
President
