A number of other reports and announcements are included, together with an outline of the Applied Probability Trust and history, written by its co-founder and driving force Joe Gani.
I would like to thank all people that contributed to the production of this issue; once again, a special mention goes to Ank Lepping for the careful proof-reading.
Since I have started editing Bernoulli News, I had to face the problem of how to write dates -- a somewhat confusing matter, given the different styles used across the world. So far I have adopted the European style, but I am considering the option of moving to the ISO 8601 format, which has the advantage of being an international standard. For those who are not familiar with it, here is an example: the date of the next Christmas day is written as 2001-12-25 in ISO 8601 format. It would be useful to have some feed-back on how BS members feel about this choice.
