* The Bernoulli Society and Bernoulli Journal have a new website check

respectively. Also note the newly redesigned logo. Any feedback is

* Prof. Marta Sanz-Sole has been elected as the new President of the

European Mathematical Society.

* StatProb: The encyclopedia sponsored by statistics and probability

societies (http://statprob.com/), including the BS, has been recently

launched. Thomas Liggett is the representative of the Bernoulli Society

in the Editorial Board.

2.- NEWS FROM STANDING COMMITTEES

* New members of the Latin American Regional Committee of the

Bernoulli Society (LARC-SLAPEM) have been elected, we welcome

Carenne Ludena  (Venezuela), Alicia Carriquiry (USA), Luis Renato

Fontes (Brazil) and Rolando  Rebolledo (Chile). The newly elected

chair of the Committee is Claudio Landim (Brazil) who replaces Jose

R. Leon (Venezuela).

* Prof. David H. Blackwell, ex-president of the BS, passed away in

Berkeley, California, on Thursday, July 8, 2010, at the age of 91. Read

* From 2011 on BS will offer 70% reduction for members from

developing countries plus a reduction for personal hard copy
