Latin American Congress of Probability and Mathematical Statistics (CLAPEM)
The Latin American Congress of Probability and Mathematical Statistics (CLAPEM), promoted by LARC-SLAPEM is the main event in these fields in the region. It takes place every two/three years and attracts researchers and students from the most important Latin American centers. It has already been organized in Venezuela, Uruguay, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Cuba, Peru, Colombia, and Costa Rica.
A traditional program in a CLAPEM includes a series of short courses, aimed to introduce graduate students and young colleagues to major areas of current research and a series of invited plenary talks, invited sessions as well as general poster and oral communication sessions. The first edition of the CLAPEM took place in Bogotá, Colombia, in 1980.
The second edition of the CLAPEM took place in Campinas, Brazil, in 1983.
The third edition of the CLAPEM took place in Córdoba, Argentina, in 1986.
The fourth edition of the CLAPEM took place in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1989.
The fifth edition of the CLAPEM took place in Santiago, Chile, in 1992.
The sixth edition of the CLAPEM took place in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1995.
The seventh edition of the CLAPEM took place in Mérida, Venezuela, in 1998.
The eighth edition of the CLAPEM took place in La Habana, Cuba, in 2001.
The ninth edition of the CLAPEM took place in Puerto de la Cruz, Venezuela, in 2004.
The tenth edition of the CLAPEM took place in Lima, Peru, in 2007.
The eleventh edition of the CLAPEM took place in Caracas, Venezuela, November 1-6, 2009.
The twelfth edition of the CLAPEM took place in Viña del Mar, Chile, March 26-30, 2012.
The thirteenth edition took place in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, September 22-26, 2014.
The fourteenth edition took place in San José, Costa Rica, December 5-9, 2016.
The fifteenth edition took place in Mérida-Yucatán, México, December 2-6, 2019.
The sixteenth edition took place in São Paulo, Brazil, in 2023
The seventeenth edition will take place in Montevideo Uruguay, in 2026.
